1 7 TH GRADERS WELCOME! 1. Row Leaders: Please pick- up folders. 2. Have a seat before the bell rings or you will be late. :O) 3. Get out your materials and prepare to write your agenda. -Thank you!

2 A QUICK REMINDER: Make sure all water breaks, bathroom breaks, pencil sharpening, backpack cleaning, etc… are done BEFORE the bell rings. Do not get out of your seat without permission. If you are eating, put it away or throw it away. Do NOT shoot trash into the trash can. Be ready to work and stay on task.

3 7 TH GRADE AGENDA 5-26-11 THURSDAY 1. Write your agendas 2. Warm-up (A.L. #12)* whip around I will check for rough drafts now* (0 work= detention) 3. 5 min peer edit* 4. Do: Parent Letter final draft* HW: Finish what we do not finish in class. Objective: SWBAT write a seven sentence paragraph to their parents requesting an increase or establishment of a weekly allowance. A.L.: 12.) Parent Letter para. 5/26

4 Possible sentence starters…. 1. In my letter, I am asking for…. 2. I might/might not be able to persuade them because…. 3. My most convincing argument is probably …because…. 4. Parent Letter para. 5/26 *Write a 6 sent. para. discussing what you are asking from your parents in your letter. Also discuss how you think they will react to your letter. Will you be able to persuade them? What is your most convincing argument? What might stop them from agreeing to your suggestion? Think-pair-share/whip around

5 PEER EDIT Work with your A/B partner and edit each other’s paper. You are looking for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. Mark the areas that need to be fixed so that your partner can correct his/her mistakes. Sign your partner’s rough draft after you are done making suggestions. Each of you will look at the suggestions given to you and you will use them to help you decide on any final changes for your final draft. Staple your rough draft to your final draft.

6 PARENT REQUEST LETTER FINAL DRAFT Choose ONE piece of stationary. Write NEATLY in large, clear print. Make sure you have at LEAST seven sentences. Double-check your spelling and grammar. Staple the directions checklist wksht to final draft. Staple your rough draft to your final draft. (Final Draft on top)

7 W INDING D OWN *Class is almost over, so it is time to: 1. STAY IN YOUR SEATS!!! 2. Stamp A.L.s & folders 3. Recap: Did you accomplish this objective? You will be dismissed when you are allowed to go.
