2 Instructions for foldable
You will need 1 large piece of construction paper and 6 pieces of regular construction paper. Fold the long piece. On the front cover, write the title of the story and an illustration. Flowers for Algernon

3 On the inside right column, use 1 sheet of const. paper
On the inside right column, use 1 sheet of const. paper. Fold long ways and glue to column. Then make 7 11/2 in. marks apart to create 8 slits. Vocabulary words- tangible, refute, regression, verify, obscure, deterioration, hypothesis, introspective (Definitions can be found on the next slide) Include definition, parts of speech, and illustration

Refute- prove wrong using evidence- verb Regression- return to an earlier or less advanced condition- noun Verify- confirm- verb Obscure- hide- verb Deterioration- worsening, decline- noun Hypothesis- theory to be proven- noun Introspective- looking inward- adj

5 Choose a second piece of paper. Fold in half and cut
Choose a second piece of paper. Fold in half and cut. You will use one half in the middle to make a pocket. Fold the second half and glue onto the top left hand column.

6 In the middle, above the pocket, write:
Point of View Tell me if the story is written in first person point of view or third person point of view. How did you know which point of view was used? Give 2 clues from the text that helped you decide. Select one quote from the story that clearly shows this point of view. Explain what information is given to you about characters and events from this point of view. Write quote #1 from page ____. “__________________________________” What did you learn about the characters or events from this quote? (see previous page for picture)

7 On the bottom of the left hand column, use another piece of construction paper.
Fold in half long ways, then fold in thirds. Glue onto foldable. Outside write Charlie Gordon Inside three flaps write 1-before the operation 2- After the operation 3- What is next for Charlie Gordon?

8 On the back, use your last three pieces of const
On the back, use your last three pieces of const. paper to make a flip chart. Next slide tells what to write for each flap.

Why do people make fun of those who are different? Should we use “science” to change we are born? Is Charlie better off now or before he had the operation?
