NON-INFECTIOUS DISEASE InfectiOUS DISEASE You can’t catch it from another person Not contagious Some of these diseases are heriditary You CAN catch it from another person (blood, bacteria, air-borne, sexually transmitted, etc…) Contagious Not heriditary

6 Assignment Research FOUR diseases (two infectious and two non-infectious) For each disease, find: What is the disease ( create a definition in your OWN words) How is it transmitted, and if not, how is it developped? What are the 3 symptons on the body? What can be done to prevent or lessen the chances of getting this disease (medication, protection, habits, health choice, etc…)? If not, how do you treat it. (3)

8 Sharing your research When it’s your turn, present ONE infectious and ONE non-infectious disease to your group. When you are not presenting, you will need to take notes on what your group members are saying! For ONE of the diseases that is presented to you, write a short summary of what you’ve learned. For ex: “Malaria – I learned that it is transmitted through mosquito bites. It can give you fever, chills and even kill you. It’s common in Africa and South America.”

9 Assignment Create a color poster that shows FOUR ways to prevent infectious 0r non-infectious diseases Underneath, write a paragraph explaining your FOUR drawings For ex: “One way to prevent infectious diseases is to wash your hands because bacteria is transmitted through touch. Another way is to eat healthy because….”
