4 The importance of Folders Folders are places we can store multiple computer files They help us stay organized They allow you to find files faster Module 1

5 Create H-Drive Folders To create a folder 1. right click on a blank area of your H-Drive screen 2.Choose NEW 3.Select Folder 4.Name it MIRD Within the MIRD folder, create the following folders 1.Pictures 2.Scratch 3.Sound 4.Videos 5.Warm-ups If you need help, watch the following videos: http://www.screenr.com/3SAs http://www.screenr.com/25Os Module 1

9 Module 1 Assignment Notes Screen Shot: this is when you take a picture of everything that appears on your computer screen. We use this to capture images or pictures we want to use inside of our video games or animations. That is how we got the image of the Scratch software you took notes on. Import: this is when you tell a computer program like Scratch, to bring in an outside image or sound file. We use this to put our pictures we captured with a screen shot and put them into Scratch. Crop: to cut out only the part of the picture you want. Sprite: this is what we call all of the characters used in our video games and animations. – They are basically the characters and any objects that interact in our programs. JPEG: this is a file type for images Module 1

10 How to capture images and get them into Scratch Capture screen shot: [Ctrl] + [Prt Sc] Paste in MS Paint: [Ctrl] + [V] Crop Image: – 1: Click on “Select”, then drag your mouse over what part you want – 2: Then click on “Crop” Save as a JPG file in your H-Drive Import in to Scratch.
