6 Mt. Tabor offers over 30 Advanced Placement Courses, some of which are taught at the Career Center. In 2008-2009, Mt. Tabor was a School of Progress, with 75.5% proficiency, compared to 70.4 % in 2007-2008. Mt. Tabor students took 1,108 AP Exams in 2009, with 74% scoring a 3 or higher. In 2009, 14 of the 33 WS/FCS Governor’s School students were Mt. Tabor students. Of the Class of 2009, 94% of students chose to attend a 2 or 4 year college. Mt. Tabor’s average SAT scores are 1068. Mt. Tabor’s 2009 graduation rate was 85.9 %, taken from students who began 9 th grade and finished through 12 th grade.

10 Percentage of students graduating in their four year cohort: To further improve graduation rates, a student mentoring program is being instituted to pair staff mentors with at-risk students.

11 Theatre Arts: NCTC Awards in Acting, Directing, and Tech 2005-2009, Superior Rating in 2007-2009; State Competition in 2009. Visual Arts: Art displayed around campus, at Thruway Shopping center, and in community events. Chorus: Superior ratings at State Festival 2004-2009, participation in All-State and Honors, and Mars Hill Honors chorus, and Governor’s School. Band: Superior ratings at District Band Festival 2001-2009, Regional Marching Band Contests, and students placed in All-County, All-District, & All- State Honor Bands, as well as Governor’s School. Orchestra: Superior Ratings at State Festival 2004-2007; Western Region, All-State, and Governor’s School Participants. Dance: An emerging program, encompassing both Art and Physical Education elements in the classroom; students participate in All-County Dance clinics annually

12 Mt. Tabor has won 19 of the last 20 Conference Wachovia Cups. 2008-2009 Volleyball State Player of the Year: Andrea Beck 2008-2009 Men’s Basketball State Player of the Year: C.J. Harris 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 Men’s State Basketball Coach of the Year: Andy Muse Girls’ Volleyball State Runner Up in 2008 and 4 th in 2009. Boys’ Cross Country Regional Champions 2009 and 4 th in State Meet. Girls’ Cross Country Regional Champions in 2009 and 10 th in State Meet. Football: Conference Champions in 1998-2008 & State Playoff Participant for last 15 years. Men’s Basketball Conference, Regional, and 2008-2009 State 4A Champions. 2008-2009 State Indoor Women’s Track Champions

13 In 2008-2009, Mt. Tabor was ranked 242 of top 1500 schools by Newsweek. Over $12.9 million in scholarships were awarded to the class of 2009 Mt. Tabor is currently 7 th in the state standings for the Wachovia Cup.
