2 ILEC Services Local Dial Tone Centrex –Rented from ILEC, for businesses with over 100 lines, performs call waiting, etc… –DID – Direct Inward Dialing Handled by the PBX/Centrex system –DOD – Direct Outward Dialing (dial 9 first) Pay phones –Not expanding

3 ILEC Services TIE line rental –Private, high speed, used to link 2 PBX’s together, charged on a flat rate –Can be very expensive Foreign Exchange –Allows a customer to call a local number –That call then gets routed to your location WATS –Wide Area Telecommunication Service –Created in the 1970’s to allow customers some breaks when calling long distance 800/888/877/866 –Allows customers to call you toll free –The business pays for the call at a reduced rate

4 IEC Services Inter-exchange carrier –Long distance carriers Switched Long Distance (DDD) Credit card dialing Directory assistance Other similar services such as: –WATS – volume discounted calling –800/888 numbers –Remote call forwarding (similar to FX)
