2. Right Side of the heart When your heart beats it pushes blood out of the right ventricle to the lungs. The bloods cells that are carried to the lungs release carbon dioxide and gain oxygen so that when you breath in you inhale oxygen and when you exhale your lungs release carbon dioxide. 3. Left Side of the Heart The oxygen filled red blood cells go to the left side of the heart. Blood from the lungs goes to the left atrium. When your heart beats again it squeezes blood into the left ventricle. When the left ventricle contracts, it pumps blood through arteries to the body.
