4 Slide Vs. Outline Tabs Slide Tab Allows you to view the slides as they will actually be displayed. Great if most slides contain images. Outline Tab Shows the text content of each slide. Great if slides contain mostly text. Allows you change text more quickly.

11 Transitions Vs. Animations TransitionsAnimations Control how slides enter the screen. Effects that blend the movement from one slide to the next. Control how content enters the slide. Effects that make the display of text or images on the slide more interesting or effective.

12 Adding Transitions Click the Animation tab. Choose a transition style by clicking on it. Select a Sound if you want one. Choose a Speed. Optionally apply the same transition to all slides.

13 Adding Animations 1. Click the Animations tab. 2. Choose preset animation from the Animate window. Or 3. Choose Custom Animation.

15 Before you Begin Check your Volume Control settings ◦ Open your Novell-delivered Applications ◦ Open Volume Control ◦ Remove all the check marks by MUTE – One or all options may be muted Verify your file setup ◦ When starting any PPT project it is a good idea to create a folder to save all of the PPT project files to ◦ Place any movie, prerecorded sound files, and prerecorded music files in that folder.

16 NARRATION Takes precedent over all other sounds You can narrate one slide or all slides Directions: 1. Click the slide you want to start on or click at the beginning of your presentation 2. Click the slide show tab 3. Choose Record narration 4. Set Microphone Level 5. Change Quality—recommend radio **You can narrate before or during a presentation before—you will only record yourself during—you get audience members as well

17 Insert Sound from File/Clip Organizer Click the slide you want to add a sound to Insert Tab Media Clips Group ◦ Sound more button (the arrow on the sound icon)  Sound from file if you have one prerecorded and saved to your K:Drive  Find file and follow on screen prompts  Sound from Clip Organizer  Search for a sound using the clip organizer  Find clip and follow on screen prompts

18 Record a Sound Directions: Click the slide to which you want to add a recorded message. Click Insert Tab Media Clips Group Sound Record Sound Type name of sound (something that goes with the slide) Press Record (red circle) Speak into microphone Press Stop (blue square) You can preview your sound or press OK to save it

19 Now It Is Your Turn…. 1. Open your 10 Things I Hate About … presentation. 2. Choose a slide to narrate. 3. Narrate the speakers notes that you have created for that slide.

20 Con’t--Now It Is Your Turn…. 4. Choose another slide and ◦ Insert a sound from a clip organizer ◦ Choose a sound that compliments the content of the slide. 5. Choose another slide and ◦ Record a sound ◦ Again, create a sound that compliments the content of the slide.

22 Importing Video Directions: Click the slide you want to add a recorded video to Click Insert Tab Media Clips Group Movie icon – Select Movie from file You must download video to your K: Drive first – Select Move from clip organizer You can change when/how you want the video to record using the custom animations tool

Choose the title slide of your presentation. ◦ Record a video using the digital camera ◦ The video should be of you presenting the title slide of your presentation. ◦ Download the video to your K: Drive ◦ Import the video into the title slide of your PPT presentation 8. Choose another slide in your presentation. ◦ Import a video from the clip organizer ◦ Choose a clip that complements the content of your slide.

26 Publishing Your PPT So It Will Play Correctly Save your PPT one last time Click the Office Button Publish Package for a CD – Choose this even if you are saving to a flash drive or network Copy to Folder Name the Folder Find the location where you want to save your folder Select, OK, Yes

30 Con’t--Now It Is Your Turn…. Slide 2 ◦ Insert a sound from a clip organizer ◦ Any sound you want Slide 3 ◦ Record a sound ◦ Pretend you are a farm/zoo animal, so if you are a cow then mooooo into the microphone
