1 NORTH KOREAN ENERGY 2005-2006 New Technologies and Construction June 2006: PRC Foreign ministry announces China and DPRK will make concrete arrangements for jointly exploiting oil sources in their neighboring waters. May 2006: Joint PRC-DPRK 42 MW thermal power plant begun on Yalu River near Ji’an/Manpo. March 2006: Academy Electrical Institute highlights new wind generators. May 2006: North Korea has been increasing the use of solar heat to in factories, greenhouses and fish farms in South Hwanghae. April 2006: DPRK Vice Minister Kim Gye Gwan in Tokyo states that Pyongyang will shift its basic energy policy from coal and hydroelectric power generation to nuclear energy. June 2005: DPRK announces work on building 290 medium- and small-size hydropower plants in Chagang Province. Many similar projects in other provinces which looks like this:
