Renewable energy RRenewable energy can come from a variety of sources. These include ; WWind SSolar GGeothermal HHydroelectric BBiomass
Wind Power Wind Turbines can be used to capture the energy from the wind. Wind Turbines can be used on a large scale somewhere windy and the power can be transported to The National Grid On a smaller scale you can fit a small Wind Turbine to your own home to generate electricity
Solar Power Captures power from The Sun This is a massive Solar Power farm in Spain Solar panels can also be fitted on your house
Geothermal Get it’s heat from under the ground Geothermal plants can be large like in Iceland and supply the power to a small country or small to keep a house at a constant temperature.
Hydroelectric Power Uses the tide or a river to capture energy This is the Hoover Dam in America. It uses the power of the Colorado River to Generate electricity. It is a modern version of a water wheel. A company called Pelamis in Scotland make these machines to generate power from waves. This one is in Portugal.
Biomass This uses the waste we make to generate power Biomass plants use our leftover waste or wood from renewable sources to generate power.
NUCLEAR POWER Nuclear Power can supply a lot of power but if it goes wrong a huge area of land can be dangerous to live in for thousands of years.
NON RENEWABLE POWER This comes from fuel sources inside the Earth. They are called Fossil Fuels because they were formed millions of years ago from plants and animals. This can be Oil, Gas and Coal
