My Goals To give you the academic and social skills you need to progress to 11th grade. To provide a supportive and fun classroom environment. To help you discover new interests.

Student Behaviors Be prompt  Be ready to learn when class begins. Be prepared  Have materials with you and know due dates. Be a polite and positive participant  Speak in a normal tone of voice, and listen attentively. Be productive  Turn in work on time, and always do your best. Be a problem solver  Correct problems quickly and peacefully before they escalate.

Policies Food and beverages are not allowed in the classroom. Please be in your seat when the bell rings, as class begins at that time. Hand in your assignments on time (assignments handed in late will reduce your grade by 15%). Absences  Ask a classmate first for assignments – if you can’t find out what it is send me an e-mail and I will let you know.

Grading Grades are based on the accumulation of points. Points are based on:  Class participation (effort)  Completion of assignments (daily work)  Major projects, exams, and self-reflection. Grading system: Quizzes 20% Oral Participation 10% Classwork + HW 20-30% Project + tests 30-40%

Academic requirements This year you will have to prepare a project that will be presented to the class. You have to hand in 5 book reports until the end of grade 12.  2 in grade 10  2 in grade 11  1 in grade 12 You will work on a literature LOG for Bagrut

Bagrut format for 5 pts students The 5 pts bagrut consists of 2 written tests, a literature log and 1 oral test.  Module E (will be done at the end of grade 11) A reading comprehension passage (70%) A Listening comprehension passage (30%)  Literature Log (must be finished by the middle of grade 12)  Module G (will be done at the end of grade 12) A reading comprehension passage (60%) A writing assignment (40%)  The external Oral exam (will be done in the middle of grade 12- usually before Pessah)

The Literature Log The Log is a journal which provides evidence of your learning. You have the opportunity to record, structure, plan, develop, and reflect upon your learning through the various tasks you include in the Log. The Log consists of units for each literary text taught. It should also have a cover page, a table of contents, headings, page numbers, etc. The log is 34% of your Bagrut grade (instead of Module F) – so take it seriously!

Literature Program  Five Points:  One play or novel  One essay  Three short stories  Five poems  Four Points:  One essay  Three short stories  Four poems

My Pledge to Students I will trust you until you give me reason to do otherwise. I will respect you and work with you to solve problems. I will promptly correct and offer feedback on your work. I will work with you to meet learning goals. I will offer extra help and alternative assessments should you require them.

Hard work leads to success, so let’s start working! Have a Great Year!
