Company history Officine Alfieri Maserati was founded on December 1, 1914 in Bologna, Italy. Since then, Maserati has played a consistently important role in the history of sports car culture and its development. Nearly a century of activity has brought with it moments of glory on the road and the track as well as more difficult times, which have helped forge the company’s character and personality. This section brings you all of the most important moments in the story of the Maserati marque. These include the 246.029 km/h world speed record set by Borzacchini in 1929, the World Championship won by Fangio with the 250F in 1957, and the more recent launch of the new 390-bhp Coupé Cambiocorsa in Detroit in January 2002, which marked Maserati’s return to the US market. However, Maserati’s history involves more than its glorious sporting achievements and the launch of great road cars; the company has also developed industrially over the years. Its relocation from Bologna to the current site in Viale Ciro Menotti, Modena in 1940 and its acquisition by Ferrari, completed in 1997, are but two examples of the many major events which have hailed important developments in Maserati’s expansion strategies and the launch of its new cars. Maserati is a marque the began life in a local context but then went on to become a major international concern, with representatives in 43 countries. In this section, you can relive this enthralling history and get to know the people, achievements, and cars which have made the marque famous.

Quattroporte The majestic new Pininfarina-styled Maserati Quattroporte is a curvaceous yet aggressive-looking, big, five-metre long saloon that hails the rebirth of the "Italian flagship car". The Quattroporte is the ultimate embodiment of qualities for which Italy is renowned throughout the world: an appreciation of beauty and good living, elegance, sophisticated engineering, genuinely sporty temperament and alluring exclusivity. A host of other features also render this new Maserati a truly exclusive car: a highly sophisticated, light, compact yet thrillingly responsive 4.2-litre 90° V8 that punches out 400bhp; the Skyhook automatic damping system; the renowned MSP (Maserati Stability Program); electronically controlled power steering; and a powerful braking system. The purity of the technical solutions adopted for the Quattroporte, the lack of any fussy details or complications, the sensuality of a line created by the world’s most celebrated stylist, and a sophisticated custom leather and wood interior personalized to suit each individual owner, all combine to make the new Quattroporte absolutely irresistible.

GranSport The latest addition to the Maserati range is the Maserati GranSport. It is a new model celebrating the concept of sportiness at the heart of all of the Trident’s Grand Tourers. The GranSport was unveiled to the world for the first time at Geneva’s International Motor Show in March 2004. The new car, which joins the Coupé and Spyder in the Maserati range, goes on sale next summer. The GranSport’s name alone suggests its eager thoroughbred GT spirit, the kind of spirit that can provide plenty of fun on demand for the driver. The GranSport name also has a special symbolic significance for the Trident as it was first used in the 1950s for an elegant two-litre coupe designed by the Carozzeria Frua on the base of the famous A6 G. The new GranSport, however, is designed to offer an exciting alternative to the current Coupé, and as such, has been treated to series of new enhancements that give it a very powerful temperament indeed.

Spyder GT The Spyder artfully combines the classic timelessness of its glamorous lines, the unique Modena tradition and the most sophisticated sports technology available today. It is a car built around a chassis and an engine, designed for drivers who want to have fun behind the wheel.

Mc12 The result is that 37 long years after its last victory in an international championship (1967, Cooper Maserati F1, South African Grand Prix), the Trident is returning to the track. The Ferrari Maserati Group’s wealth of knowledge and technological excellence have been poured into the design of the new car. In addition to this, its styling was developed in the wind tunnel from a Giugiaro idea by Maserati technicians with the support of Frank Stephenson, the Ferrari Maserati Group’s own Director of Concept Design and Development. The European type-approved version of the new car goes on sale after the summer. Designed for high level road use, it can exceed 330 km/h at full throttle, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Although easy and pleasant to drive on the road, the MC12 is also a brilliantly dynamic car.

Opinions: We choose the theme of cars because since we were children we have always had as a hobby cars and everything around them. That the reason we choose Maserati which is one the famous Italian’s brand. The cars we names are the best cars on this brand and have the most powerful motor. In Chile are not many cars like this because of the price and is the same for Ferrari and another expensive brands.
