Ms. Middleton Spring 2009

 In this class we will be learning five of the Microsoft Office programs.  Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher.  Some program coverage will be more in- depth than others.  All programs are MS Office 2007. If you already know 2003 version, you will learn new things in 2007.

 Choose Your Attitude  The attitude you choose will determine how your day and everyone else’s goes.  Be Respectful  If you respect me and others, you will be respected in return.  Be Honest and Trustworthy  I do not tolerate dishonesty or cheating. DON’T DO IT!

 When you come in the room:  Pick up your folder from the appropriate crate by the door.  Go to your seat and log-in.  Go to Blogger.com, answer the blog question of the day.  Follow any other instructions given by me.  Tardy Policy:  If both feet are not on the carpet when the bell rings, you are tardy.  What to do if you are tardy:  Sign your name on the tardy sign-in sheet by the door. After three tardies in this class, you will receive a tardy referral for detention.

 MP3/CD Players:  Allowed during Individual Work Time as long as one ear is left open so you can hear me.  Not Allowed during Whole Class Instruction Time or Group Time.  Headphones are available for check-out with collateral (a shoe, your badge, etc).  Food:  Allowed during IWT as long as you clean up your trash and don’t mess up the keyboards.  Not Allowed during WCIT or Group Time.  Drinks:  Computers on sides of room: Must be on the floor.  Computers on end of room: Must be on the desk.

 Bathroom/Hall Pass:  NO BADGE=NO PASS Do not come up to me putting on your badge, if you don’t have it on when you walk in the room, don’t bother!!! If you have given me your badge for headphone collateral, you need to take it back while you are out of the room and then return it to me until you turn in your headphones.  You will not go anywhere during WCIT unless you are called out by the office. Don’t bother asking. (Obvious Emergencies may be excluded).

 Internet Usage:  Classroom assigned Blogging = yes  MP3 music =yes w/o abuse  Just because = not unless I give you permission  Email:  NO- unless you are emailing an assignment to me.  Consequence: automatic 30 minute detention with me after school.

 Printing:  You will print out the assignments I ask you to.  DO NOT get them off the printers. I will do this at the end of class.  At the end of class:  Log-off. DO NOT SHUTDOWN.  Put your books away with the covers to the outside.  Put your folder away in your hanging file folder.  Come back and sit in your assigned seat until the bell rings.  When you leave, push your chair in.

 Group Work  Each person will be assigned a job that is essential to the completion of the project.  Each person will be expected to do the work assigned to them.  You will receive a grade from your peers and from me.  These grades will be factored into your overall grade.  YOU WILL BE RESPECTFUL OF EACH OTHER OR YOU WILL BE DEALT WITH BY ME or your division principal if the situation calls for it.

 Point values are undetermined at this point.  These will be turned in by printing or email.  They will be handed back to you or put in your folder, whichever I have time for.  Blogs are worth 5 points per day. If you are absent, you have until midnight that night to make it up. This includes all absences. If you are in class, do it here.  Tests point values are undetermined at this point.

 Grades are determined by a percentage of total point value.  Although tests are worth more points, they do not have any more % weight to them.  Grading Scale:  A=100-90%  B=89-80%  C=79-70%  D=69-60%  F=59% or below  Extra Credit? Maybe, maybe not.
