3 3 CREDIT OR NONCREDIT? Noncredit: Learn a skill for enjoyment No tests or grades Work at your own pace Credit: Prerequisites Requirements Working toward a degree

4 4 CONTINUING EDUCATION GETTING STARTED Get Program information (Services, Enrollment) Talk to an Access Advisor about finding a class Bring documentation of disability Discuss accommodations Register for class (online, fax, phone, or mail)

5 5 CONTINUING EDUCATION Different types of classes Accessible sites Accommodations provided

6 6 CONTINUING EDUCATION SERVICES PROVIDED: Advising and Registration for classes Instructor Notification Individualized Classroom Support Adaptive Classroom Materials

7 7 COLLEGE - Credit Special programs or special classes are not offered. Students responsibility to request services, provide documentation, register, and notify access of registration. Teachers are not asked to change the course content or teaching methods

8 8 COLLEGE Tests are not modified or shortened Assignments are not modified Teachers are not asked to change the way they teach

9 9 COLLEGE The College is not responsible for providing personal care or behavior management assistance

10 10 WHO IS RESPONSIBLE? The student is responsible for: Disclosing disability to the Access Office Obtaining documentation of disability Self advocacy Educational decision making

11 Non Credit courses (Continuing Education) Do not need a high school diploma No prerequisites Starting throughout the semester Variety of Classes No tests Work at your own pace 11
