Camels

 Facts 

Physical Features A camel’s color is usually between gray and dark brown. They are normally 6 to 7.5 feet tall at their shoulders. They are typically 7.5 to 11 feet long. Camels that live in colder places have darker and longer coats.

Habitat Camels live in arid regions. Some live in the wild in China. Camels live throughout North America, Arabia, the Middle East, northwestern India, and Iran. Some also live in Senegal, Somalia, Kenya, and Mauritania. A population lives in Australia because they were brought there from 1840 to 1907 for transportation in the desert.

Diet/Actions and Behavior
Some types of camels live in groups, and when they do, it might be more than thirty of them. Camels graze during the day, and when they can find an open space during the night, they go to sleep. When camels move fast, they pace. For a few hours they can go six miles per hour and keep that up. A normal speed for walking camels would be three-point-five miles per hour. Camels will eat about almost any vegetation. And if they are forced to because of hunger, they will eat bones, fish, and meat.
