Introduction Exploring is a very important thing. If we didn’t have explorers then a lot of places wouldn’t be found. Some common explorers are Christopher Columbus, Vasco da Gama, and Francis Drake. Christopher Columbus found Hispaniola. Jacques Cartier explored and found Canada. He was an explorer too. It is important that he found Canada because that’s a place where many people live and if he didn’t find that there wouldn’t be homes for those people.

Personal Information Jacques Cartier was born in 1491. He was born in St. Malo France. All that is known about his youth is that he lived in St. Malo France until 1533 when he got asked by the King of France I to explore. His parents names were Jamet Cartier and Geseline Jansart.

Exploration Information Jacques explored for France. On April 1, 1534 he crossed the Atlantic Ocean with two small ships. That was his first voyage. His second voyage was in 1535 when he went to North America with three small ships. His third and last voyage was in 1541 when he was sent out but the French lost interest in the new world and told him that all his explorations were considered a failure.

Other Interesting Information Some interesting information about Jacques Cartier is that Jacques explored with Verrazzano. His main goal was to find a northwest passage to Asia and he studied French Navigation. There is also a lake made for him in Quebec Canada. Those are some interesting facts about Jacques Cartier.

Date and Place of Death Jacques Cartier lived a good life and died when he was 66. He died in the year of 1557. After he was done exploring he came back to St. Malo France and that’s where he died.
