Who in Adjective Clauses The man is friendly. He lives next to me. To make an adjective clause, change he to who. Who is a subject pronoun that refers to “the man.” *An adjective clause comes after the noun it describes. The man who lives next to me is friendly. The man is friendly who lives next to me.

The river which flows through the town is polluted. The river that flows through the town is polluted. Which and that used as subject pronouns cannot be omitted. Let’s Play a Game! Guess Who. o Each person gets a game card and a secret identity (“friend”). o Taking turns, tell your partner something that describes your “friend” on your card using an adjective clause. o The other person needs to cross out people on their card to figure out who your friend is. o Let’s do an example together.
