9 ReadyGEN 2016 Pearson This program is designed for college and career readiness. ReadyGEN also incorporates student-centered instruction. Grades K-2 include 6 units with two modules per unit. Grades 3-5 include 4 units with two modules per unit. Each unit has a science or social studies theme and focuses on a variety of reading and writing skills. Each module has a performance based assessment at the end for students to have an opportunity to demonstrate an understanding of the skills for that unit. Each unit has an assessment that will focus on increased comprehension and text complexity over the course of the school year.

10 ReadyGEN 2016 Pearson ReadyGEN Offers:  Balance of informational text and literature.  Complexity of text – whole class reads/discusses text together, then in small breakout groups, students will receive reinforcement and extended lessons as needed. (These breakout groups can change on a daily basis.)  Balance with writing that is linked directly with the day’s reading. “Let’s write like the author.”  Knowledge of other disciplines—the text pieces incorporate social studies and science topics within the reading.  Word power—Tier One, Two, and Three vocabulary includes academic and domain specific vocabulary.
