2. Fraternity Background Initiated Spring ‘97, Alpha Alpha Beta Chapter, Chicago State University. As a collegiate, served as Fundraising Chair, Chapter President, Intake Coordinator, and NPHC President. As an alumni, served as Dir. of Membership, Intake Coordinator, Dir. Of Blu Tuesday, Alumni Advisor (AAB), Dir. Of Education, Co-Chair Chicagoland Joint Founders Day Celebration, Illinois State Director, and Vice Regional Director. Served on the International Standards and Awards committee, International Membership Committee, and Conclave Atlanta Nominating Committee.

3. Professional Background A social service professional with 12 years experience delivering quality services to underserved populations. Boys and Girls Clubs of Chicago – Male Involvement/Teen REACH programs. UCAN Chicago – Crisis Intervention for Special Education elementary and high school students. Metropolitan Family Services – Manager of Young Fathers program – smallest program in one of the largest social service agencies in Chicago. President and CEO of Primetime Entertainment, an event and talent management firm.

4. Workshop Objectives To help brothers better understand Chapter Operating Standards & Reporting Tools (CSAF, PIA, ACR). To demonstrate how to get your chapter to the next level. How to compete for regional and global awards through the Fraternity awards and achievement process.

5. Characteristics of Great Chapters Knowledgeable of and abides by fraternity’s policies and procedures. Knows fraternity history, programs, and protocols. Has sound membership RRR plans. Submits chapter taxes and insurance in full, on time. Retains at least 95% of its members and submit their dues by December 31.

6. Characteristics of Great Chapters Keeps accurate records of accounting and meetings. Implements programs that are relevant in communities or on campuses where the chapter is located. Reports its work via the Program Implementation Assessment (PIA) Conducts a Chapter Self Evaluation using the Chapter Self Evaluation Final Report (CSAF) Completes and submits an accurate annual report to Regional Director and Corporate Headquarters.

7. What is PIA? Program Implementation and Assessment. It is the electronic report submitted via fraternity’s program web page after each completed program. This data is used to prepare the Fraternity’s annual accountability report to its members and the community.

8. What is CSAF? Chapter Self-Assessment Final Report. Chapter self evaluate and submit electronically. All information should be true and accurate. Falsification of this report will result in immediate suspension by Regional Director.

9. What is ACR? Annual Chapter Report Provide detail on chapter activities. Works in tandem with the PIA and CSAF in the awards and recognition process. Is required of all collegiate and alumni chapters on an annual basis.

12. Our Mission Statement The brothers of Phi Beta Sigma are the Fraternity’s most valuable resource and strength. They are the primary means by which the Phi Beta Sigma objectives will be achieved. In order to accomplish the Fraternity’s objectives, it is essential that systems are instituted that effectively embody “Culture For Service and Service For Humanity” and promote brotherhood, scholarship and service.

To optimize Phi Beta Sigma’s effectiveness, the Fraternity will: ● Ensure that the Fraternity programs are focused and committed to serving humanity. ● Encourage a closer and mutually beneficial working relationship with fellow Greek Letter organizations, other community service organizations, businesses and government.

14. Credibility Our reporting proves that we’re doing what our mission states. A track record of reported programming opens doors for funding from and collaboration with other community service organizations, private foundations, and government.

15. Intrinsic Rewards Feeling good about seeing, in print, the work you have done and all the people you’ve helped. That “Wow” reaction. Looking at our chapters globally, knowing that we as an organization are positively impacting communities. Knowing that the organization you have shed blood, sweat, and tears for is making a difference.

19. Chapter Self Assessment Final Report Recognition process requires chapter to self evaluation in 5 focus areas: Scholarship & Academic Achievement Program Implementation and Reporting Membership Growth and Retention Chapter Operations Risk Management

20. Annual Chapter Report Must be submitted to the office of the Regional Director by February 15 of each year. Printed copy along with a CD, an additional CD mailed to Corporate HQ Attn to: S&A Committee Covers activities for the previous calendar year.

21. DEVELOPING THE ANNUAL REPORT: Prepare a professional cover, which includes the name of your chapter, your region, College or University, City where chapter is located. Ensure first page includes chapter address, officers and contact information, and chapter’s email address. Include Summary Report of Chapter Self Assessment Results. Utilize your results of the Chapter Self Assessment Tool to report in each of the following categories:

22. –Scholarship and Academic achievement In this section, provide academic demographics. For example, undergraduate should list cumulative GPA and alumni chapters discuss academic performance of chapters you advise. Alumni Chapters are to share learning opportunities and special presentations that took place in chapter meetings. Alumni chapters are to also provide academic demographical information as presented in the self-assessment. –Program Implementation and Reporting In this section the chapter is able to provide documentation on implementing Fraternity programs. The chapter is encouraged to add action photos. The chapter should also provide a summary and accountability of community service hours.

23. –Membership Growth and Retention In this section chapters are to provide a chapter roster, which include contact information for each member. Include total active brothers, newly initiated brothers, reinstated brothers, and transferred brothers from collegiate to alumni chapters as well as other transfers. Alumni chapters indicate career or business industry/title. Collegiate chapters, indicate classification and your career goals. Chapters are to share membership growth and strategies as well as outcomes/results of those goals and strategies. –Chapter Operations This section allows the chapter to share a complete operations assessment of chapter. Use the standards included in the Chapter’s Self Assessment Tool to lead your discussions. –Chapter Special Projects, Activities and Events In this section the chapter can report and document chapter signature events, special projects, and activities that do not fall under the Program Implementation and Reporting section.
