AdverbA word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb I instantly realized that I had just insulted the mayor and that she was quite angry with me. Interjections Separated from the rest of the sentence by an exclamation point (!) or a comma (,). The sentence still has meaning without the interjection. Use very sparingly.
