4 The mission of William Carey Library is to provide students, faculty, and staff with the bibliographic resources, research tools, and study environment necessary for the academic training of men and women for Christian ministry to fulfill the commission entrusted to Olivet University by the Lord Jesus Christ. We develop collections, catalogs, staff, services, policies, and facilities to support this task. Mission

5 William Carey Library comprises seven libraries. They are Main Library, William Wagner Mission Library, Jubilee Music Library, IT Library, Art & Design Library, Asia Library, Media Library, and e-Library. All libraries are located on the main campus except that IT Library and Art & Design Library are on Howard Street, Description

6 The Library collects 70,000 volumes of materials in different formats, including print books, serials, maps, scores, and audio-visual materials. The languages of materials are primarily in English, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. Note that the description about e-library materials is not included here and will be introduced at the end of this session. Description

8 Who are privileged: OU students, faculty, instructors, lecturers and staff use their campus ID as a library card. Alumni, retired staff, and retired faculty can apply for their special Ids to use the Library. Service

9 Borrowing: It can only be done in the Library by the library staff. No help-yourself checkout can be made. Borrowing Maximum: Undergraduate: 10 volumes of materials of any types Graduate: 20 volumes Faculty: unlimited Alumni: 5 volumes Borrowing Period: Two weeks for all kinds of materials except for Service

10 Reserving and Renewing a material can be made from the online library catalog. Reference Service: It will be provided during the opening hours at three circulation desks in different libraries. Reference questions can also be placed through library website. Service

11 Course reserve: Materials on "course reserve" are items such as books, articles, and other types of materials that an instructor has designated for use by students enrolled in a specific course. This service can be requested by the faculty through the Library website or printed request forms available at all the circulation desks. Please submit your course reserve requests three weeks before the semester begins to ensure availability of the material. Course reserve materials will be arranged by instructor's name or course number primarily in two locations by circulation desks and are only for room use. Service
