5 Borrowing policies All Ranger College students, faculty, and staff can use and check-out library materials. Eastland County residents can also gain library membership free of charge. There is no charge for overdue items. However, you will have to pay the cost to replace any item that is lost or damaged. Loan Periods Books – limit of 10 for 2 weeks Videos – limit of 3 for 1 week Audio – limit of 3 for 1 week In Library Use only Reference (encyclopedias, etc.) Periodicals (newspapers, magazines, etc.) Special Collections

6 Searching for Books or Videos
Go to the library’s website: Click the Search Catalog link Type your keywords in the search box, and click search Search by title, author, subject, or keyword The catalog will provide a call number, which you can use to find the item on the shelf.

7 Understanding call numbers
Our library’s collection is organized according to the Library of Congress Classification System (LC). LC call numbers begin with letters and are followed by numbers. Example: LB C Items are organized by subject. So, books which cover similar topics will be shelved in the same area of the library.

8 Electronic Databases The library’s electronic databases contain articles from newspapers, magazines, and academic journals. Some of them also contain eBooks, videos, and more. These databases are available wherever you have internet access. To access them go to the library’s website: Click the TexShare Databases or Gale Databases link. The TexShare ID and password is rcc5162 and tx76470. The password for Gale is texas. Library staff are eager to assist you, so let us know if you need help searching our databases.

9 Ask A Librarian Text your question to (messaging rates may apply). Or click the Green Tab on the Library’s website. You can text 24/7, and a library staff member will answer you as soon as possible. When the library is closed you’ll receive an automated response telling you the passwords for the library’s databases.

10 Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
If you need a specific book, article, or other item that our library doesn’t own, then we can probably get that item for you through our interlibrary loan service. To make a request visit us in person, or visit us online at: After receiving your request, we will borrow that item from another library on your behalf. We will contact you once the item arrives. It varies, but ILL items usually arrive within one week (sometimes longer), and you can usually check them out for 1 month.

11 Texshare card Ranger College students, faculty, and staff can acquire TexShare Cards from our library free of charge. These cards allow you to borrow items from participating libraries throughout Texas; including Tarleton State University, Howard Payne University, and more. For more information visit this site:

12 Computers and Printing
The library has several computers stations with internet access and Microsoft Office software. The library has free Wi-Fi and ample outlets for your electronic devices. The library offers free printing and copying.
