4 Usage: simple past is used to expresses
a finished action in the past actions that follow each other in a story a past situation or habit

5 Note: spelling of verb + ED
most verb add –ed to the base form of the Verb worked, wanted, watched when the V ends in –e, add –d liked, used, hated V has only one syllable (1vowel+ 1consonant), double consonant before adding –ed stopped, planned, robbed Consonant is not doubled if it is “-Y”, “-W” played, showed In 2-syllable V, the end consonant is doubled if the stress is on the second syllable pre’ferred, ad’mitted V that ends in a consonant +-y, change –y to -ied Carried, burried, hurried
