3 Who We Are…  An international emergency response and disaster management agency  Over a decade’s experience in providing emergency humanitarian relief and helping vulnerable communities prepare for, survive and respond to disasters  Established in 1994 – In Pakistan started with Afghan refugee programme and in 1998 as DRR lead agency of AKDN  An affiliate of Aga Khan Development Network www.akdn.org/focus

11 Our Programmes tools Programme Tools Population Served Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) equips community members with basic disaster management skills in order to response to local disasters Over 35,000 (160 CERTs) Hazard and Risk Maps are used to identify and anticipate risks to local communities. These maps are also used for planning, decision and particularly for DRR planning. Detailed investigation studies and expert visit to investigate hazards are also part of it Over 600 locations School Safety Programme - promotes DRR at classroom and school levels 0ver 300 schools Response (SART / DART) enhanced institutional capacities for response SART 40 members / DART 60 members Emergency Relief 201036,562 households

12 Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) 92 community stockpiles, including 4 Regional ones Over 34,00 trained volunteers in 160 CERTs – 50% women

13 Forty member team - (30% female) Assessed equal to INSARAG standard Search and rescue capacity i.e. mountain, urban, fire, swift etc DART team consists of 60 members FOCUS Pakistan’s Search and Rescue Team is
