WARM-UP #6 12/7 Your ship sank at sea and you’re on a small life boat without any food or water. What would happen to your cells if you drank the ocean water?

Answer  The ocean is salt water. After you drank the salt water it would be absorbed into your blood stream. The water would your cells would leave into your blood stream to equal out the amounts of water. This would cause you cells to shrivel up and die.

Warm-Up #7 12/8 1. What structure performs photosynthesis? 2. What is the chemical equation for photosynthesis? 3. What type of transport is used to get these molecules into the cell?

WARM-UP #8 12/9

Answer  1. carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight  2. co2 + h20 +sunlight= c6h12o6 + O2  3. passive transport: diffusion for CO2, glucose and O2 and osmosis for transporting water

Answer

Warm-Up #9 12/10  The graph compares the surface area to volume ratio with the diameter of the cell. Based on the graph, which increase in diameter results in the greatest drop in surface area to volume ratio? 0 2 4 6 51015 Cell Diameter (mm) Surface are to volume ratio A. 1 to 2 mm B. 3 to 4 mm C. 5 to 6 mm D. 7 to 8 mm

Warm-Up#10 12/11 Write out sentence and fill in blank!  1. Osmosis benefits plants by bringing in ________.  2. A cell does not need to use energy during _________ transport such as d__________ and o________.
