4. Unit 3 Project To prepare for this project, you will contact a human services agency in your area and obtain the following information: 1. Name of agency – include if this is in a city or a rural area 2. Clients/consumers served 3. Social problem addressed 4. A copy of its mission statement, and the goals and objectives of the agency.

5. Unit 3 Project While there is no such thing as a right or wrong viewpoint on social problems, there are a lot of emotions, values, morals, and judgments that are associated with service delivery to the most needy in our population.

Unit 3 Project Based on the information you gathered about your chosen agency, please discuss the following: Discuss who is served and the nature of the social problem addressed by the agency you chose. Identify the goals and objectives of your chosen agency and analyze each of them using the three criteria in the text: – Clarity – Measurability – Manipulability

11. Unit 3 Why Are We Here: Utilizing Goals and Objectives Many of us work on goals and objectives within our own organizations or in our home life without really thinking about it. You have set goals to graduate from Kaplan and objectives to reach that goal, like doing these assignments. As an employee in a human services agency, you might wonder: Why are we in business? Do our policies and programs really help those in need? How did they determine this was a necessary program and who are “they?” Goals and objectives help give us focus, a path to follow, and direction in our daily work.

25. Unit 3 Goals vs. Objectives cont… Why Have Both Goals and Objectives? Both goals and objectives are needed because they serve different purposes. Statements about objectives are essential for 2 reasons. 1. They give the operational outcome toward which program operations are directed, and no administrator can make decisions about daily issues like budgets, money among various program operations, and hiring and firing without a concrete objective in mind.
