5 Historical background Casimir the Great’s goal was to unite all the lands of the Charles’s Piast. Good relations with both countries were eclipsed, by the animocity between the Bohemians and the Poles. One of the causes of this conflict lied in the Luxembourgs’ claim to the Polish throne on the grounds of the same claim of the earlier Premyslid kings. 12 Visegrad Triangle After all with the exception of the financial aspect, the points of the peace treaty had been clarified. 13 - John of Luxembourg agreed to give up the title of Polish King for a total of 20 000 threescore Prague groschen (20 000 Bohemian silver marks).
