2 What is the Language Leaper Project? Who are the members of the Curriculum Development Team? Who are the National Partners? How will the Program Work? What is the Work Plan for the Development Team? What are the Expectations?

3 2009 FLAP Grant to develop a Content-Related & Media-Based FLES program for the languages of Japanese & Mandarin Chinese State funds will be applied to simultaneously develop French & Spanish versions. Developed for grades K-5 Each grade level will consist of 6 Content/Thematic Units Each unit will consist of 16 Content Episodes & 2 Assessment Episodes

4 World Language Teachers: 6 Elementary Content Teachers:12 Language Specialists: 4 6 teams total that consist of 2-Elementary Content Teachers and 1- World Language Teacher. Language Specialists will provide guidance to all 6 teams.

6 Adapt Best Practice to Media-Based Model Each program episode will be designed to be implemented during a thirty minute period. Three episodes will be presented each week. Trained classroom facilitators will lead the students through interactive learning activities that seek to address established learning targets. Ongoing formative student self-assessment and cumulative assessment will be administered.
