2 Ancient Egyptian sculpture (50000 BC to 300 CE) was both highly stylized and symbolic. Much of the surviving art comes from tombs and monuments and thus there is an emphasis on life after death and the preservation of knowledge of the past. The iconic image of Queen Nefertiti, perhaps the step- mother of Tutankhamun,

3 -Statues were built to give eternal life. -rules, meant to convey timelessness, kept the art from evolving for 3000yrs. 5 Tutankhamun (1341 BC – 1323 BC) was an Egyptian Pharaoh of the Eighteenth dynasty (ruled 1333 BC – 1324 BC) during the period of Egyptian history known as the New Kingdom. The 1922 discovery by Howard Carter of Tutankhamun's intact tomb received worldwide press coverage and sparked a renewed public interest in ancient Egypt, for which Tutankhamun's burial mask remains the popular face.
