2 2 Goals District Goals –Long Term Goals To encourage more students to pursue STEM careers while providing them with the skills needed to be globally competitive in STEM fields. Incorporate one stem activity in grades 3-12 for implementation throughout the district. Increase the number of students participating in STEM programs, e.g. science, invention and engineering fairs by 50% within 5 years. –Short Term Goals Initiate formal STEM Professional Development for STEM Leadership Team. Increase awareness in the importance of STEM integration into the classroom. Establish a proposed list of activities for educator professional development to affect student learning in STEM.

3 3 Objectives 1.Professional Development will be provided for teachers to develop skills from integration of STEM to support student learning. 2.Student participation in STEM activities increases 15% over a three-year period. 3.Systemic curriculum changes underway for implementation of new academic science standards. 4.Increase the number of students involved in scientific, technological, mathematical and engineering research both inside the classroom and extracurricular activities. 5.Creation of STEM activities will have a sustainable funding source.

7 7 Intel ISEF Educator Academy Reflection –The highlight of the Educator Academy was the opportunities for highly collaborative conversations with educators from around the world. Keynote speakers were excellent and very well versed in fields of expertise. –Favorite Shop Talks “Fundraising Specifics for Science Fairs- Practical Steps for Success” “Boosting Creativity and Achievement in Math through Math Circles and Math Symposium” “Use Robots to Hook Kids into STEM” –Where should we venture from here? More sessions related to Science Fair growth and expansion
