 In Cluster, all teachers will write a clear goal for their IGP (Reflective Journal) that is aligned to the cluster and school goal.

Evaluation Review Standards & Objectives from last week Identify Need IGP/Reflective Journals Expectations Obtain New Learning Reflective Journals Development: Individual Goal Apply (In your classroom) Evaluation Reflective Journal: Next Steps

 Consider Standards & Objectives ◦ How did you implement learning targets? ◦ How did knowing your measurement criteria inform instruction? ◦ Other Reflections?

 All teachers are expected to write an IGP/Reflective Journal in the 2 nd year of implementation in TAP schools. The IGP/Reflective Journal is a record- keeping document and log to support teachers in their own professional growth and to ensure that growth in classroom practice is clearly connected to measureable increases in student achievement.

 By May 2012 all students will improve on the TCAP by demonstrating at least one year’s growth and as monitored by the department administered monthly assessments and the district MAP tests.

 What is the purpose of reflection?  What is the purpose of reflecting about teaching practices?

 Aligned to cluster and school goal ◦ 2013 TCAP Writing assessment  An area of refinement from teacher observations ◦ CODE scores in and area of refinement on the rubric below proficient (3)  Based on needs of individual teacher’s students ◦ Instructional practices to improve students learning outcomes  Measurable for students and teachers ◦ The goal should be written in measurable terms of students’ growth, not averages but individual growth

 Connection/alignment to school goal  Connection/alignment with cluster cycle goal  Connection/alignment to yearly goal  Individual teacher area of refinement related to the rubric  Rationale of needs  Activity and classroom outcome  Follow-up support/Follow-up evidence

 Refinement Objective: By the end of the conference, the teacher will explain the process for incorporating modeling to demonstrate student performance expectations. ◦ S ◦ M ◦ A ◦ R ◦ T

 By the end of cycle 2 during the 2012-2013 school year, I will increase my observation score from a 2 to a 3 on presenting instructional content by focusing on modeling with visuals in the classroom to ensure students have a clear understanding of expectations.

 Exemplar of an individual goal  By the end of cycle 2, during the 2012-2013 school year, I will increase my observation score from a 2 to a 3 on problem solving by using categorization and identifying relevant/irrelevant information strategies to increase student comprehension of new concepts.

 Exemplar of an individual goal  By the end of Cycle 2 during the 2012-2013 school year, I will increase my observation score from a 2 to a 3 on Lesson Structure and Pacing by implementing clearly segmented lessons with a beginning, middle and end to provide sufficient time for students to practice the skill and demonstrate their mastery.

 Exemplar of an individual goal  By the end of Cycle 3 during the 2012-13 school year, I will increase my observation score from an average of 3.0 to 4.0 on the Academic Feedback indicator on the TAP instructional Rubric by focusing on engaging students and giving specific and high quality feedback to one another.

 Teachers will develop their IGP goal. ◦ S ◦ M ◦ A ◦ R ◦ T  When finished, the teacher should share with another person in the group to check for mastery.

Goal Based on an area of refinement Based on student need ActionResult How did it go?  Teacher data (reflection)  Student data (evidence) Next Steps How did it go?  Teacher data (reflection)  Student data (evidence) How will you incorporate elements from your goal into your lesson? How will you teach it? How will you know this practice increased student achievement? (Student Work) What support do you need? How will I teach it? What is your plan? (support)

◦ Implement your first step(s) ◦ Reflect on the results ◦ Determine next step(s) ◦ Bring your completed IGP to TLT next week
