2 Background Information about Lauren Jones Applied to 5 schools Does work-study now Majored in Psychology and had a minor in Education What made you want to study OT? health occupation from family pre-health advisor: help people do what they love to improve their health

3 Application Process applied to 5 schools took up most of the fall semester Recommendations: start applying early, during the summer start building relationship with professors look at the fees for each program visit the program and school applications are all very different-start early!

4 What type of advice would you give? start early! shadowing and volunteering jot down memorable things that happened during your shadowing or volunteering-it makes for somethng good to write about in your essays build connections in prerequisite courses Ex: How does anthropology relate to Occupational Therapy? applying things to OT when writing your essays

5 What is the most rewarding about being a potential OT? seeing people get back to doing something they love Ex: gardening, cooking, dancing, ect moments of bringing joy to people the individualism What are the difficulties about potentially being an OT? working with difficult patients not meeting goals being asked “What is Occupational Therapy?”

6 Where do OTs normally work? schools hospital private therapy clinics farms (hippo therapy) traveling OTs home health,

7 Are you at all worried about graduating and not being able to find a job? Not really because of networking perfect placement not necessarily fieldwork helps OT’s are needed everywhere The job outlook is great and growing!
