4 Teens and Their Comfort Levels With Social Internet  It is easier to be honest  It is easier to post things instead of speak them verbally.  It is easier to “talk” to someone they do not know.  It is easier for shy people to have cyber relationships.

5 Internet Postings Last Forever  Internet postings can be retrieved long after they are first posted.  Internet postings are public.  Employers and college admissions counselors look at student web pages and pages.

6 Parents Must Stay Informed  Parents must stay on top of technology.  Parents can take classes to learn how to be computer savvy.  Parents must be firm in protecting their children from internet dangers.

7 Internet Safety Rules  Facial Recognition: if you do not visually recognize the person trying to “friend” you or initiate conversation with you, do not accept.  Never post anything you would not want your parents to read.  Never post pictures that inappropriate and never forward pictures from someone else.
