2 Renaissance in Flanders The economic expansion in the Netherlands led to greater investments in art.

3 The Limbourg Brothers of Flanders began making “Books of Hours” for Nobility. These books contained calendars detailing social events and domestic tasks.

7 The Italian Renaissance The Renaissance in Italy also began as a result of the economic fortunes created by the geographic position of Italy. Art of the Italian Renaissance was greatly influenced by Greek and Roman styles.

8 Masaccio's Holy Trinity (1425) Masaccio is credited as the first Renaissance artist to re introduce the concept of perspective in art work.

13 Leonardo DaVinici In Davinci’s Last Supper the apostles seem posed. His version is painted when Jesus announed that he would be betrayed.

14 The Mona Lisa (1503) Later Renaissance art began focusing on more secular subjects. The Mona Lisa is a portrait of the wife of a banker during the life of DaVinci.
