A Cup of Coffee S. Shobana US – North East

Coffee is a brewed beverage prepared from roasted seeds, commonly called coffee beans, of the coffee plant. Coffea canephora (also known as Coffea robusta) and Coffea arabica are most commonly grown species. Less popular species are liberica, excelsa, stenophylla, mauritiana, racemosa. It is believed that the Ethiopians, the ancestors of today's Oromo tribe, were the first to have discovered and recognized the energizing effect of the coffee bean plant. A Cup of Coffee

Cultivation Originally, coffee farming was done in the shade of trees. This method is commonly referred to as the traditional shaded method or "shade-grown". First, coffee berries are picked, generally by hand. Then they are sorted by ripeness and color and the flesh of the berry is removed, usually by machine, and the seeds—usually called beans and then it is fermented.

Origin

Types of Coffee Black coffee: A drip brew, percolated or French press style coffee served straight, with no milk. Iced coffee: A regular coffee served with ice, and sometimes milk and sugar. Indian (Madras) filter coffee: A common brew in the south of India, Indian filter coffee is made from rough ground, dark-roasted coffee Arabica or Peaberry beans. Dry Cappuccino: A regular cappuccino, only with a smaller amount of foam, and no steamed milk at all.

Coffee and Health Reduction in chances of Parkinson’s Disease Reduction in chances of diabetes Sugar control Appetite control and weight loss Increase in heart health Helps aid some headaches Increases overall mood May contribute to reduction of risk for some cancers

Coffee Break The next time that your boss complains about the obligatory coffee break, point him in the direction of MIT. Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology recently made a discovery that strongly suggests that coffee breaks – or at least, breaks from activity – are a necessary part of the learning process. Luigi Bezzera was looking for a way to speed up his employees’ coffee break time and thus we got our coffee machine.

How much coffee is too much ? Make sure that for every coffee you drink, you drink two full glasses of water, to help your system replenish what the caffeine takes out. Ultimately, coffee has to be seen as a trade-off. If you want to enjoy a cup of coffee, look after yourself in other areas and you’ll be sucking down the espressos for decades to come.

Thank you
