1 EDEL 443 Dr. Cannon

2 Scaly with dark brown and black spots. Also known as a “Bluebelly Lizard” because of the bright blue stripes on his belly and throat. Size: Snout to vent (just before the tail) between two and three inches long.

3 There are as many as five subspecies. Only the San Joaquin Fence Lizard and the Channel Islands Fence Lizard occur in our region. Click to know more about it!

5 This lizard enjoys desert-like environments with lots of hiding places. They’re often found in wood and rock piles, in old buildings, and are occasionally seen sunning themselves on fence posts (like their name implies).

6 Western United States, including Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, and Idaho. A disjunct population occurs on Isla de Cedros; a Pacific Ocean island off of Baja California. Click to see more details!

7 This lizard has a special protein in its blood that kills the germ that can cause Lyme Disease.
