2 Unit 4PEMS Roles and Responsibilities Goals: Understanding roles and responsibilities of emergency preparedness personnel in administering PEMS –Manager, Emergency Preparedness (Area) –Manager, Emergency Preparedness (District)

3 Manager, Emergency Preparedness (Area) USPS Management Position: Knowledge and training of Postal programs and policies related to emergency preparedness, infrastructure protection and physical security within the Area Provide support to implement the four phases of emergency management and coordinate emergency preparedness issues with State and Federal entities Establish and maintain contacts with State and Regional emergency management officials and first responders within the area to ensure a full coordination and response to emergencies

4 Manager, Emergency Preparedness (Area) (continued) PEMS Role: Can be members of the Area / District / Installation EMT Can access PEMS information from all Facilities within the Area Should use PEMS as a management tool to support the phases of emergency management throughout the Area

5 Managers, Emergency Preparedness (District) USPS Management Position: Knowledge and training of postal programs and policies related to emergency preparedness, infrastructure protection and physical security in the District Provide support to implement the four phases of emergency management sufficient to coordinate emergency preparedness issues with Local and State authorities Establish and maintain contacts with local emergency management officials and local first responders within the district to ensure a full coordination and response to emergencies

6 Managers, Emergency Preparedness (District) (continued) PEMS Role: Report suspicious mail and unknown powders and substances Can access PEMS information from all Facilities within the District Should use PEMS as a management tool to support the phases of emergency management at the Districts / Installations
