3 Accept the Reality of Your Situation  Change & Rate of Change is Accelerating  To lead in markets you have to move with increasing velocity  Customers that want the product before you are ready to deliver  Not enough people, or not enough of the right people, to do the job  Accelerated Schedules that seem almost impossible to deliver to  Processes that are not repeatible or mature  Limited infrastructure 3 Accept the reality & actively manage it

4 Embrace the Journey  Know where you are starting from  Know where you are going to  Frequent touchpoints with the customer  Treat customers & stakeholders as partners  Identify issues quickly & course correct as needed  Open and fully transparent communciation  Adopting AGILE is a Marathon not a SPRINT; Stay the course Learn & Continuously Improve 4

5 Create an AGILE-friendly Culture  Clearly articulate the one-team- win-together-as-a-team culture  Provide clarity on roles & responsibilities  Put the right people in the right roles  Invest in training (roles, tools)  Recognize & reinforce appropriate behaviors  Recognize and change disruptive behaviors  Be Fully Transparency – it starts with me −What‘s working? What‘s not? How do we improve? −Own mistakes and fix them  Risk Taking −Push the envelope on methods, processes, schedules, and delivery approaches −Embrace new possibilities as part of the culture (Start with „How?“ not „No“) 5

6 While on the Journey, don’t forget to:  Execute −Have a clear execution plan in place that is transparent & visible  Measure −Have a few key indicators & actively monitor them  Celebrate −Celebrate your successes – even the little ones – along the way  Iterate −Build features quick & iterate often  Improve −Strive to continuously improve 6

8 Strengthen the Organization  Assess −Once team has been built and has successfully delivered −Take the time to architect the team for the next phase in its journey −Are changes in roles, membership, team scope or charter required?  Adjust −Make changes in team as needed. Promotions? Selection, de-selection in roles? −Where can you simplify? −Address any capability gaps  Transform −Clearly and transparently communicate organizational change −Implement & go 8
