2 PREPARATION FOR PARENTHOOD This is a free four-week course held every Monday for expectant parents. Topics include budgeting for a new baby, caring for a newborn, breast/bottle feeding, child safety, infant CPR, and child development. There will be lots of free samples and. handouts! Are you ready to take the risk? Experts from the Service Corp of Retired Executives (SCORE) will present this thought-provoking workshop, which will provide you with the tools necessary to be your own boss. Come to the FSC and learn how to be effective in developing, managing, and marketing your own business. Let the experts share their secrets of success with you. Believe it or not, the concept is the same. Thursday, 9 January, 0800-1100, we’ll look at some REAL self-made millionaires and learn what they did to get there. Money management techniques that they use, what they BUY, what they SAVE, and how they USE their money to make MORE money. SMOOTH MOVE Thursday, 18 January, 1400-1530. For personnel (spouses are encouraged to attend) who are PCSing. What you need to know about moving…from the experts. Your questions will be answered without contacting each agency separately. Then attend the Department of Veteran’s Affairs’ Disabled Transition Assistance Program D-TAP (DISABLED) to learn more about benefits you may be eligible for specifically, the Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment program. This program aids disabled veterans with education and training and on to suitable employment. The easiest way to do it, for both active duty and DOD civilians, is through the Thrift Savings Plan. Saving a small amount now for retirement — just 1 or 2 percent of your base pay—reaps HUGE benefits later. Also learn how to save money on taxes by contributing to TSP, what happens if I decide to separate, what kinds of investments are available in the TSP, and how to decide which one or ones you should invest in. Friday, 26 January, 1100-1200 THRIFT SAVINGS PLAN This class will assist job seekers with general employment information, resume writing, and registration in the computerized job bank. JOB SEARCH IN LAS VEGAS 9, 23 & 30 January, 0900-1130 This one hour group is for parents of children between the ages of 3 months and 36 months. If you would like to READY, SET, GROW !!! meet other parents, reinforce your parenting skills and learn new ones, come to this program and bring your little one to interact with other children. Every Monday 1000-1100 The Airman’s Attic is for E-4 and below and their families. Donated furniture, small appliances and household furnishings are free. We also have blue uniforms for all ranks. Stop by and see what’s available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 1000-1400. The Airman’s Attic is also in need of volunteers during hours of operation.
