Crossroads Teen Driving is a program of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin We partner with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and State Farm This is our second year working with the Wisconsin Career and Technical Student Organizations

Project goal The goal of the CTSO Traffic Safety Projects is to improve teen traffic safety in Wisconsin through student directed awareness and education activities.

Focus areas Projects should focus on areas that are the greatest risks to new drivers: Distracted Driving Seat Belt Use Speeding Impaired Driving Passengers

Ideas Design a media or social media campaign around a specific message. Conduct a pledge/contract event with rewards when the school is successful. Share a safety message with younger children with a peer mentor program. Take your safety message to the school or community with interactive activities.

Considerations Be specific about what your project will, and will not, include – and why. Think about your school environment. What is the message students need to hear? What is the best way to deliver it? How will you know if your project was a success? As part of your proposal, define how you will show that your plan worked. Collaborate! Reach out to other groups, organizations, and agencies that might have an interest in helping you share your message.

Scoring rubric

Funding Funding of up to $1000 will be offered based on the strength of the proposal, and awarded at the completion of activities to reimburse expenses. Funding from other sources such as community donations may be combined with these funds to enhance the project. Project may be combined with other grants and competitive activities to maximize impact
