Module One Engagement Activity

How do we add value so that the elected board as a whole far exceeds what can be accomplished by any single member of the board?

 Model the Way  Inspire a Shared Vision  Challenge the Process  Enable Others to Act  Encourage the Heart

Activity One: Work with a partner. Open your envelope, and remove the ten statements. Read the statements, discuss them with your partner, then place them in the correct box. We will review the placement when all teams have completed their predictions.

 Activity Two:  Work with your partner.  Open the second envelope.  As you read each question, discuss with your partner where you think the question should be placed.  Choose one question that you and your partner would like to discuss in more detail.

 Be prepared to share which question you think would be most interesting to investigate further and share your thinking with your partner.  More information on the five practices of exemplary leadership is available in “The Leadership Challenge” by Kouzes and Posner and in BCSTA Module 1: Authentic Governance through Ethical Leadership.
