1 LEADERSHIP PROJECT: Clinical Trial Patient/Financial Tracking Tool Ray Robles, MBA, CCRP Research Grant Specialist Department of Surgery Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

2 Project Overview Objective: Develop a uniform patient/financial tracking tool in an effort to improve the efficiency and financial accountability across the Medical Center. This process is incorporating the five practices of successful leadership as outlined by Kouzes & Posner in The Leadership Challenge. 2

3 Leadership Plan I.Assessment of current process in key departments. (June 2012) a)Identify how subjects are currently being tracked through the study b)Identify how these departments are managing their receivables II.Implement a standardized tracking system. (August 2012) a)Create a standardized tracking template b)Test template with key Departments III.Template Roll-out. (October 2012) a)Implement suggested changes to template after initial test period b)Roll-out template to all other Departments 3

4 Current Tools Began identifying how Departments are currently tracking participants in clinical trials. Due to the diversity in support, and the experience in each Department, there have been many tools developed. The next slides show several examples. 4
