2 Information About Your Teacher:  Also teaches chemistry.  B.A. from Case Western Reserve University, M.S. from Cleveland State U.  Married to Jane for 32 years. Two sons, David & Matthew.  Has been teaching in Lancaster for 18 years; worked in chemical industry for 15 years before that.  Lives in Circleville.

3 Stuff You’ll Need ASAP 1. Pencils or pens, paper for notes 2. Scientific Calculator – EE or EXP 3. $5 fee – pay to Mrs. Gardner

4 We will cover 12 Units this year.

6 The Earth as our “model” planet. The Moon & Mercury – dead worlds Venus & Mars Jupiter, Saturn, their moons The Outer Solar System HONK if you think Pluto is still a planet!

7 The Sun – how we understand other stars The information in starlight Stellar life cycles Black holes, etc.

8 The Milky Way Galaxy Other Galaxies Cosmology Astrobiology

9 How do I earn a good grade?

10 1. Be here. 3. Do the HW and lab reports. 2. Take notes. 5. Study for quizzes & tests. 4. Be organized. 6. Check class website & PB weekly.
