Background State law which took effect January 1, 2010 Requires residents who put their yard waste or other compostable waste out for curbside pick up to place the waste in compostable paper or plastic bags. Compostable plastic bags must meet all the specifications in ASTM Standard Specification for Compostable Plastics (D6400).
