2 4-Year University/College Applications Course Requirements to Apply: Course Requirements to Apply: – Completion of A-G requirements with grades of C or better in all 15 year long courses. See CSU-UC Comparison of Eligibility Requirements to verify your eligibility. – GPA: Minimum 2.0 for CSU, Minimum 3.0 for UC – GPA is calculated only from 10th & 11th grade grades plus any summer grades completed after 9 th grade.

3 4-Year University/College Applications Validation of Course Requirements: Validation of Course Requirements: – Validation of “D” grades by repeating course – Validation of “D” grades by higher level coursework  Math & Language other than English (LOTE) only (example: Spanish 2 = fall: D/spring: C – LOTE subject requirement is met).  Geometry: Currently can be validated by Adv Alg2/Trig or Pre-Calculus0H – Validation of Subject Requirement by Test Score – See CSU or UC websites for details.

4 4-Year University/College Entrance Testing Testing Requirements: Testing Requirements: – CSU: – CSU: SAT Reasoning or ACT (with or without the Writing section) – UC: – UC: SAT Reasoning or ACT Plus Writing. SAT Subject Tests are not required but may be strongly recommended depending on major of study. If taken there should be at least 2 tests in different disciplines. – Private & Out-of-State Schools: – Private & Out-of-State Schools: SAT Reasoning or ACT Plus Writing. Individual schools may require up to 3 different SAT Subject Tests.

6 Major Impaction Major Impaction: Major Impaction: Too many qualified applicants for available admission spaces resulting in increased competition for admission to the major. Major change: Major change: It may be possible to change a major, but students are strongly advised to apply to majors they initially plan to complete. Major changing often results in difficulty getting needed classes and can influence the cost and planned graduation date.

7 University/College Athletics NCAA Clearance for Division 1 & 2 with Eligibility Center application at www.eligibilitycenter.org www.eligibilitycenter.org Check with specific schools of interest as some schools may use other Collegiate Athletic Organizations instead of NCAA (for example, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics – NAIA).

8 Financial Aid Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): – Determines student eligibility to receive financial aid. – Requires Social Security Number FAFSA Filing Period: – January 1 – March 2 (must update application every year) Other resources for student who cannot complete the FAFSA: AB 540 California Dream Act Deferred Action Financial Aid class presentations will occur later in the school year.
