2 Who is Adolf Hitler? As a Child: He was whipped by his father. Had two mothers, both of which died at a young age. His brother ran away when he was 9. Had terrible grades all throughout school. He loved art. Wanted to be an artist. Took piano lessons. Dropped out of school at the age of 16 As a Young Adult: Applied for The Academy of Fine Arts Rejected from the Academy Gave up art after his failure. Got interested in politics. Found he loved the lifestyle of politics Wanted to marry a young women named Geli. Geli rejected him and was found dead in her apartment. Summary: German dictator Hated Jews His goal was to purge Germany of Jews Ordered to have millions of Jews killed (Simkin 1)

3 What did Adolf Hitler Do? Adolf Hitler started “Hitler youth”, A program that trained young teens in combat and survival. Became Chancellor of Germany in 1933 Hitler created the Autobahn, a freeway with no speed limit. He created the Gestapo, a secret service that did his will. Conquered almost all of Europe. Started World War II Committed suicide because he didn’t want to have to pay for his crimes. Hitler married two days before he died. His wife, Eva Braun committed suicide with him. (Devaney 3)

4 How Did Hitler cause World War II Hitler believed that Jews were not worthy to be in Germany. Hitler’s hatred for Jews probably began when he was rejected from the Academy of Fine Arts because the Academy’s board was Jewish. (Devaney 50) Hitler was also on a quest for the Spear of Destiny, a powerful spear said to be the property of many great rulers. Hitler treated Jews as if they were not humans but some horrible creature he despised. (Stille 42) Allied Countries such as America, France and England did not like what Hitler was doing and how he was treating the Jews, they decided to take action and stop what was going on. World War II lasted from 1939-1945, just over six years.

5 When Was Hitler in Power? 1919: Hitler joined what was to become the Nazi party. 1923: Hitler was arrested for trying to overthrow the German government. 1929:1933: The Nazis get votes by blaming the Jews for all of their problems. 1933: Hitler becomes Germany’s Chancellor (pretty much has all the power) 1934:1945: Hitler is in control of Germany and conquers much of Europe while killing off Jews. 1945: Hitler commits suicide. (Devaney 4)

6 What Were Hitler’s Motives? Since Hitler was whipped as a boy that caused him to be violent and angry. After being rejected from The Academy of Fine Arts he started his hatred against the Jews because the panel of accepting people into the Academy were Jewish. He was very unstable. He was rejected by the woman he loved. Hitler had an extreme hunger for power. He was naturally an angry and temperamental person. (Wistrich 2)
