3 Measuring Success Children are assessed in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, Mathematics and Science. The emphasis is on teacher judgement. The children are assessed throughout the year. The tests are used to help inform the final teacher judgements.

6 How can you be sure we are levelling correctly? For all subjects we work from the National Curriculum Levels; We are provided with level descriptors to work from; We are closely monitored by the LEA.

7 TA based on work in year 2 Test or task result Are TA and task/test level the same? yes Final judgement= TA Consider the following: Are the test/task results typical; The teacher will look again at how they came to the child’s assessment level Is the teacher confident that the TA is based on a full range of evidence; Consider factors of why the child has performed at a different level to what the teacher expected. No Is teacher confident that TA is best reflection of what a child can do? then yes Final judgement= TA No Final judgement= task/test level.

8 Reporting Only teacher assessments are reported to the LEA. We will report to parents/carers the teacher assessment levels. Parents have access to test results if requested.

9 What can you do at home? Continue with reading and asking questions about different texts. Encourage children to speak in clear, full sentences. Make number problems a part of every day life especially time, capacity, length and mass. Talk to children about the world around them to encourage the development of their vocabulary. Support children in completing homework tasks.
