7 What this means for You Offers Feb until May 25 Gr. 11 & 12 U/M finals + 12U/M mid- terms students with strong academic records throughout can expect February admissions others will receive responses in May after grades are received by the Universities CONDITIONAL pending FINAL GRADES

8 ROLLING ADMISSION ADVANTAGES more time before final decision completion of Gr.12 U/M’s remains the basis for admission students receive complete packages DISADVANTAGES may not receive offers when friends do

15 OCTOBER Start planning & doing research Attend University & College Presentations B.C. U’s – Oct.28th at the OntarioScience Centre 10am – 3pm Are you on the list?

16 NOVEMBER Information sent to OUAC P.I.N.’s sent to Guidance Begin applying On- line using P.I.N. (must be done by Jan.10th) Apply early!

17 Your COMPASS access codes How do you get your access codes? Your counsellor will give you a confidential letter containing your access codes. They are: your PIN (Personal Identification Number), your school number and your student number. Together they give you access to your personal COMPASS.101 application. Your PIN is confidential! 18 Dates to Remember Jan 10 th –deadline to apply – BUT APPLY EARLY!!!!! Feb 6 th – all amendments to be completed March 6th – marks sent to OUAC Feb – May 25th offers of admission made April 20 – marks due again - YTD - NB May 12 th – respond to offers of admission May 25th – final date for U’s to inform you May 28th – earliest date to pay money July 11 – final marks sent

24 COSTS COLLEGE Tuition = $2,500 Residence = $5,800 (with meal plan) Books = $1,000 Travel, food, phone,etc Total = $11 - 12,000 (IF LEAVING HOME) UNIVERSITY Tuition = $4 - 6,000 Residence = $6,500 Books, travel, food, phone, etc. Total = $14,000 (IF LEAVING HOME)

26 SAT 1 Required by most American Universities Scores predict how well you will do in American Colleges/Universities Measures verbal & mathematical reasoning abilities 3 hours long - 7 sections See Ms. Bellstedt

27 Other Provinces Separate applications and fees scholarships many calendars available internet for information and applications or see Mr. Van Wert B.C. U Fair - Oct. 28th at Science Centre – 10am – 3 pm

28 OUAC & Other Provinces OUAC will send marks to other provinces if you put OUAC # on out of province application Bishop’s, Concordia, McGill, Dalhousie, UBC, Victoria all have agreements with OUAC
