2 Why Instructional Design? Instructional design is the entire process from the analysis of learning needs to the delivery of a system to meet those needs. It includes the development of learner-centered instructional materials and activities, to transform information into relevant content that is easy to learn.

3 Why Instructional Design? Instructional Designers work much like architects, who analyse, plan and design before the actual construction begins.

4 Instructional Design uses a learner-centered approach Only the information NEEDED by the target audience, presented in a way that FACILITATE learning Organize your material Provide learning guidance Why Instructional Design? Not everything you know about the subject

What do I want them to be able to do after the training? How can I help them learn what they need? Which methods will I use? How will I determine if they have learned? Which content will enable them to learn what they need? Which techniques will I use to turn this content into learning? Did they like the course? How can I improve it? Have they accomplished the objectives? Are they using what they have learned? What will be the outcomes? Audience analysis Who?
