Use the following template to report out on a utopia that you investigated.

Google nps.gov utopia (it’s the first web site)

What is the name of your utopia? My utopia is the Amish community.

Where is it located? They are located in Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Does it now exist, or will it exist in the future? This utopia exists right now.

What does it look like? Describe it for me. The Amish people are farmers and craftsmen. They wear simple clothes, use no electricity, and have no automobiles. They believe in hard work and simple living.

Who gets to go there? How are the people chosen for this utopia? You are born into an Amish community. At age 16, you get to choose to stay or not. If you stay, you must follow all the rules for the rest of your life. If you leave, you may never come back.

What are the rules for this utopia? Plain clothes, no mirrors, no cameras, no electricity, church every Sunday, work hard on the farm, no cars, no school after the 8 th grade. Men rule the household.

What will this utopia give people that is better than what they have now? It saves people from violence. Everyone helps everyone else. You will never face a problem alone.

What would be the problems of living in this utopia? You have to follow the rules all the time or you get thrown out. You have no contact with the outside world.

Anything else you want to tell me about this place? [Type answer here}
